To further understand the use of lead services in the construction industry, the Construction Marketing Association conducted a national survey of construction professionals. The following questions were asked:

3. If yes, approximately how much do you spend annually on construction lead services?
4. What is the MOST IMPORTANT feature of the construction lead service you utilize? Or, what is your primary use of lead services?
5. Besides construction lead services, what other types of marketing do you utilize to generate leads?

1. 58% of respondents use construction lead services.
2. CMD (formerly Reed) is the most utilized lead service (41%), followed by Dodge (35%) and Blue Book (29%).
3. 41% of respondents spend $1,000 – $5,000 annually on construction lead services. 23% spend more than $50,o00.
4. Respondents indicated that project ID/lists are the most important lead service feature (64%), followed by private projects (21%), and get specified (21%).
5. Besides construction lead services, trade shows are the most popular type of marketing used to generate leads (67%). Other types of marketing used included email (63%), SEO (33%), and advertising (33%).
6. Respondents came from a variety of company sizes:
7. 31% of respondents are in commercial construction, 25% building materials mfg/dist., 8% equipment mfg/dist., 4% remodeling, and 33% other.
